Eight Restaurants Host Lunch for Literacy
Eight area restaurants are participating in this year’s Lunch for Literacy fundraiser to benefit FLAG. Please join FLAG supporters at these fine restaurants on the Thursdays indicated, as they donate a portion of their lunch receipts on that day to promote literacy in Fannin County.

Welcome to FLAG
FLAG Adult Education is a learning center dedicated to helping north Georgia adults acquire the necessary basic skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, math and computer literacy.
These skills allow one to compete successfully in today’s workplace, strengthen family foundations, and exercise full citizenship.

We offer the following services for free:
- GED preparation
- Reading improvement
- Writing improvement
- Math improvement
- ESL English
- Home GED program
- Instruction for the North Georgia Tech placement test
- Work Ready Certificate testing
We also offer low cost computer classes. Georgia residents receive a $500 voucher to be used for education upon passing the GED.
2011 EAGLE Award Goes to Mike Jarrett
This year’s recipient of the award for outstanding adult education student at the Fannin/North Georgia Tech Adult Learning Center was Mike Jarrett. After submitting his written application, Mike went through an interview process with five judges at the North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville on November 15 as part of the EAGLE program. Congratulations, Mike!
Next Registration
The next orientation and registration for FLAG/NGTC students will be January 4, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A registration session for evening students will be held January 5 and 10 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please call 706-946-3524 before December 15 to reserve your place at registration , as the Adult Learning Center will be closed after that for the winter holidays.
GED Grads Celebrate in Clarkesville
Six Fannin County students participated in the GED graduation ceremonies at North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville on Thursday, October 6. FLAG/NGTC Offers Computer Class
A free computer class will be offered by FLAG/NGTC beginning September 9 at the Blue Ridge Adult Learning Center. The class will run all semesters on Fridays, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Instructor Paula Ary says the class will cover the basics, including using a mouse, using the internet, couponing, social networking, Word documents and managing files and folders. Call 706-946-3524.
